Loving it!

loch awe 2Love is a big subject! We met for an evening of mindfulness last Tuesday on the theme of  growing in love. And we were enriched as we meditated and listened to one another.

Here’s a poem by Maya Angelou called ‘Touched by an Angel’. We explored it in small groups. Immerse yourself and see what speaks to you. It is a goldmine.

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

What’s the image? It is Loch Awe in the Scottish Highlands, the longest of the Scottish lakes. What’s the link? Steve shared his love of the place with me during the session. And then he sent this glorious view – which conveys something of the freedom that love offers. Thanks for sharing Steve!
